Tara, Dain & Steve Fataar and band are AVATAR.
A South African musical heritage, AVATAR carries a legacy of familial
ties and world-engaging music.
AVATAR has its musical roots in last century.
At 65, Steve Fataar is one of the industries most illustrious icons of music.
He's traveled the world, played with the beach boys, fraternized with
the Rolling Stones, he recorded the first ever quadraphonic album
(with his band the Flames) – whilst signed to the Beach Boys record
label, and much like the artist himself - that music still plays
today.
Singer & Composer, Tara is Steve's daughter.
Her début stage performance was at age 8 where she performed Elton John's "Daniel".
She has since gone onto receiving standing ovations at Splashy Fen at the age of 12, performed alongside the likes of Sibongile Khumalo at the Cancer Association's "Night of 100 Stars" at 13 and even been an organiser at the Cape Town Festival, where she co-ordinated the "Local Goes Vocal" stage.
Now 25, Tara has recently completed producing and recording much of the album "AVATAR" which is locally available.
Human Beatbox extrordinaire, Dain brings to the life of guitar&vocals an element which is atypical to live band performances, i mean how many beat-boxers keep going throughout an entire set....*
