amBhulu is about South african music - more specifically blending boeremusiek with
various indegenious styles including kwela,mbaquanga,ghoema and world styles including blues,folk,rock and trancendental balladry.
Our instruments include ,Guitar,bass,Banjo,Trekklavier (accordion) Bazouki ,Hang,Harmonica,Pennywhistle and various percusision instruments.

The band was formed in the autum of 2004.
We are attempting to cross cultural barriers by infusion different styles with our own.

It has been rumoured in the press that when our songs are backmasked ,secret melktert recipe's will be revealed - we distance ourselves from that and will remain neutral.
Our name comes from a Xhosa swearword for the boere in the apartheid era.

We are based in the town of Wellington in the Boland region of the Western cape ,South africa and perform regularly in and around Cape town at arts festivals clubs and kerkbazaars.
